When shortcuts work
The AI, navigation and interview control shortcuts work during a live interview session on your PC. They pause while a session runs through the phone companion, so the phone and the PC don't both act on one key press.
Window movement, nudging, hide and show, collapse to logo, close panels and quit work any time the app is open.
Compact mode
Compact mode makes the interview toolbar narrower, so more of your screen stays clear for the meeting, a code editor or your notes. Turn it on from the More menu on the toolbar with the Compact Mode switch, and turn it off the same way.
The transcript and answer panels work the same in both layouts. Learn the controls in the default layout first, then switch to compact mode once you no longer need the labels.
If a shortcut doesn't work
- For AI and capture shortcuts, check that a live interview session is running on your PC.
- Close apps that may use the same key combination, such as screen recorders, clipboard managers and graphics overlays. Windows gives a global shortcut to one app at a time.
- Restart InterviewGPT so it can register its shortcuts again.
- Practise each shortcut in a private call before a real interview, so you never discover a clash mid-answer.

Shortcut questions
- How do I hide InterviewGPT quickly?
- Press Ctrl + Alt + H to hide or show the whole app. Ctrl + Alt + L collapses it to a small floating logo instead.
- How do I turn on compact mode?
- During a session, open the More menu on the interview toolbar and switch on Compact Mode. The toolbar becomes narrower, and the transcript and answer panels work the same way.
- Why is a shortcut not working?
- AI and capture shortcuts only work during a live interview session on your PC, and they pause while the session runs through the phone companion. If a window shortcut also fails, another app may already use the same key combination: close it and restart InterviewGPT.
